Shymaa Sword
Advanced Practitioner
As a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Nurse, I bring extensive experience working with both adults and children across a variety of clinical and community settings. With a background in psychiatric intensive care, I have developed a deep understanding of the significant risks, complexities, and sensitivities that can accompany mental health difficulties. This experience has strengthened my ability to remain calm, attuned, and person-centred, even in the most challenging circumstances.
Specialising in ADHD assessments, I am committed to delivering a thorough, trauma-informed, and compassionate service that recognises each person’s unique story. Having an ADHD (Combined Type) diagnosis myself, I understand the lived reality of navigating symptoms, stigma, and self-discovery. This personal insight allows me to approach my work with authenticity, empathy, and a genuine commitment to helping others find clarity and validation through their own journeys.
I have a particular interest in trauma-related issues and how early experiences can shape emotional, cognitive, and behavioural patterns throughout life. My approach integrates this understanding into every assessment, ensuring that individuals feel safe, respected, and understood — never reduced to a diagnosis, but seen in the full context of their experiences.
I am passionately committed to the principle of Making Every Contact Count — ensuring that every interaction is an opportunity to support, empower, and positively impact the lives of those I work with. My practice combines clinical expertise with human connection, aiming to provide clarity, reassurance, and a clear pathway forward for individuals and families.
Whether working with children, adolescents, or adults, I take pride in offering a service that is professional yet warm, clinical yet human, always tailored to the individual’s needs. My ultimate goal is to help people feel heard, validated, and equipped with the understanding and tools they need to thrive.
