Sonia Moody

Advanced Practitioner

I am a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Nurse with a specialist interest in ADHD and Autism. With over 19 years of experience in the NHS, I currently hold the position of Associate Nurse Consultant, where I lead in diagnosing, treating, and supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders.

My career has been focused on both children and adults with a variety of neurodiverse conditions. I have developed a broad skill set in diagnosing ADHD, Autism, and other related disorders, tailoring treatment approaches to meet the unique needs of each individual. Over the years, I have honed my ability to work effectively across age groups, including children, young people, and adults, ensuring each patient receives the most appropriate care for their life stage.

In 2019, I qualified as a Non-Medical Prescriber, specializing in ADHD treatment options within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). This role gave me the opportunity to expand my clinical knowledge and skills in prescribing, which I later applied in a busy Adult Community Team. In this role, I was able to prescribe a broader range of medications, including those required for co-occurring conditions, and managed complex cases that required a multidisciplinary approach.

Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to delivering patient-centred care. I ensure that treatment plans are not only based on the clinical needs of each individual but are also jointly co-produced in collaboration with the patient and their family. I take into account risk factors, co-morbidities, and the interplay between physical health and mental health, ensuring a holistic approach to treatment.

In all my roles, I work tirelessly to ensure that the patient’s voice is heard, and that they receive the best possible care. I believe in collaboration and work closely with colleagues within the NHS as well as private service providers, ensuring continuity of care and positive outcomes for those I support.
