Legal right to choose your provider

What Is NHS Right to Choose (RTC)?

Right to Choose is a legal entitlement under the NHS in England. If your GP refers you for an autism assessment, you have the right to choose which approved provider delivers your care. Your GP refers, the NHS funds it, and you pay nothing.

Am I Eligible for
NHS Right to Choose?

Right to Choose is not an urgent or crisis care pathway.

Not sure whether you qualify? Get in touch and we will help you work it out.

What We Offer Under NHS Right to Choose

As of 3 November 2025, NHS South East London ICB introduced a new Adult ADHD Referrals Triage Service, which differs from the standard Right to Choose referral process.
This applies to all adults aged 18 and over registered with a GP in Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich, Lewisham, Lambeth, or Southwark.
The referral process for this ICB is as follows:

Complete your self-report form before your GP appointment.
Bring your completed form to your GP appointment. They will discuss your experiences and confirm whether an ADHD assessment is appropriate.
Your GP will submit a referral to the South East London Adult ADHD Referrals Triage Service via NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS).
The triage team will review your referral and contact you to arrange a short meeting to explain your assessment options, including Right to Choose providers such as ADHD Certify.
If you choose to proceed with ADHD Certify, the triage team will forward your referral to us and you will be added to our waitlist.
Please note that referrals submitted outside of this triage process cannot be accepted and will need to be resubmitted through the correct pathway, which may cause delays to your assessment.

couldn’t be more glad that I have started this journey and even more so that I have Annisah to help and guide me along the way. It has not been easy at all but having Annisah guiding me with her experience and knowledge has been the help I’ve always needed. I could go on and on but she really does know what she’s doing, I can’t recommend her enough. Thank you always for the help you are giving me, it has been such relief finally doing this.

My medication review with Fade was great. She asked all the questions to confirm my medication & dose was still correct and working as it should. She also gave me information in advance about what it would look like if I ever needed to change/amend my medication. Above all else, Fade really takes her time to understand the needs of clients & is a genuinely bubbly, friendly person. An asset to the team 🌻

Frequently Asked Questions

Right to Choose is a legal right under the NHS Constitution that allows patients in England to choose which approved provider carries out their autism assessment, rather than being allocated one by their local Integrated Care Board.
No. A GP referral is required to access the Right to Choose pathway. You cannot refer yourself directly to ADHD Certify, but our GP letter download makes the referral process straightforward for both you and your GP.
No. Your GP does not need approval from your local Integrated Care Board to refer you under Right to Choose. They can refer you directly to ADHD Certify once they agree the referral is clinically appropriate.
Your GP has clinical discretion and is not obligated to refer if they do not consider it appropriate. If they are unfamiliar with Right to Choose, our GP letter explains the pathway clearly. If a referral is still declined, you can ask to speak with the practice manager or seek a second opinion from another GP.
Yes, completely free. Right to Choose assessments are fully funded by the NHS through your local Integrated Care Board. There are no private fees, no hidden charges, and no cost to you at any point.
ADHD Certify offers both online assessments via secure video call and in-person assessments at locations across England. We currently accept Right to Choose referrals from patients registered with GPs across 20 ICBs in England.

Yes. Right to Choose applies to both adults and children from age 9. A parent or guardian can request a Right to Choose referral for their child through the child’s GP, and the same eligibility criteria apply.

If you are currently waiting on the standard NHS pathway, you may be able to switch to the Right to Choose pathway and be seen sooner with ADHD Certify. Get in touch and we will advise on your options.

Your autism assessment with ADHD Certify involves pre-assessment questionnaires and a structured video consultation with a specialist clinician conducted in line with NICE guidelines. The full diagnostic assessment includes a 90-minute evaluation session with your specialist and a 120-minute developmental history interview with a parent, caregiver or a partner, followed by a full written diagnostic report sent to you and your GP.

The full diagnostic assessment consists of two sessions: a 90-minute structured evaluation with your specialist and a 120-minute developmental history interview conducted with a parent caregiver or a partner, familiar with your history.
Not all assessments result in a diagnosis. Whatever the outcome, you will receive a detailed written report outlining the findings and recommendations for next steps, so you leave the process with clarity regardless of the result.
You will receive a formal diagnostic report within 30 days, sent to both you and your GP. Your report will include personalised recommendations for further support, interventions, and next steps tailored to your or your child’s needs.
